BUFFALO NIGHTS from Now and Zen album

My latest (August 2010) DIY buffalo nights music video of a song from Now and Zen album I released a few years back. One of the first songs I wrote on piano and one I have long loved. James Bowers produced this tune. Hope you enjoy the visuals!

CONFORMITY 451 from Evolution of the Blood Star album

Music video of Norine Braun's song Conformity 451 directed, edited and produced by Norine Braun. Words and music by Norine recording produced by James Bowers. I was inspired by the novel Fahrenheit 451s cinematic qualities and strange dreamlike logic. Ray Bradburys insight and foresight regarding intellectual freedom with censorship and brainwashing at its core ignited me. He dared ask the question of being happy and fulfilled of his main character. The timeliness and contemporary feel of this novel was irresistible. I focused on the conformity aspect and how this creates the illusion of security and prevents people from looking for fulfillment and searching for freedom. I encapsulated the highlights of the novel and styled it into a rap rock funk ambient fusion to reflect todays energy and world. Winner of the SIBL international songwriting competition.

BIG FISH LIVE VOL. 8 LIVE IN TOKYO WITH HANA SAITO

Vancouver BC, June 21, 2009 Father's Day - Norine Braun has released a music video for her new song "Ballad of Magic Man" which is taken from her 7th independent album entitled "Acoustically Inclined". Norine says the song is about the magic of believing. "The magical man from the stories of our youth, the archetypal good man is always within us as we try and find our way in the mystery of life. We can carry that goodness, that innocence, that magic with us, always.”

In the video, directed and filmed by Julie Saragosa, the award winning singer-songwriter is followed on a journey through luscious west coast Canadian backdrops. The opening shot, we hear Norine’s footsteps, she enters wearing cowboy boots. The boots once belonging to her late father, a magical man himself would wear these boots on special occasions like attending the Calgary Stampede. Paralleling the message of the song, his spirit and the magic of his life continues on. Using hand held and traveling shots various images and sequences are split screened giving the viewer the ability to self edit by choosing which screen to watch. The video also presents scenes of live performance shots in various natural settings.

Filmmaker Julie Saragosa has shown work at festivals worldwide; including Milan, London, L.A., Chicago, Berlin, Vancouver and Toronto. In 2005, her film Amoré won the Best Canadian Film award at Toronto’s International One-minute Film Festival.
